ADS’s involvement in the cellphone industry led to the development of a number of new techniques which continue to be applied across a wide variety of industries these days.
A typical example is this cellphone which was developed in the company’s then European location. The brief was to create a metallic appearance enclosure that looked like it was fashioned from copper and steel, but which was as light and as malleable as plastic. In addition, the part had to have an integrated IR lens to allow the phone to transmit data between itself and an adjacent phone.
