Headlight Diffuser Lens

A clear trend in automotive lighting applications is the desire for the light source to look even and uniform over the complete surface of the lens.

This desire to avoid ‘hot spots’ applies to both interior light sources and, increasingly to the vehicle’s exterior lights.

In this application, ADS utilizes its 3D thermoforming technology to create a headlight diffuser which produces just such an evenly lighted appearance. Whilst it appears deceptively simple the application presents a number of challenges including achieving uniform diffusion over a 3D surface and meeting the AMECA requirements of exterior lights.
